The Old Town of Lijiang, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is renowned for its well-preserved Naxi culture, unique architecture, and historical significance as a trading hub along the Tea Horse Road.

The Old Town of Lijiang, also known as Dayan Old Town, has a history spanning over 800 years, dating back to the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty. It served as a crucial trading post on the historic Tea Horse Road, facilitating trade between China and Tibet. The town was officially listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997 due to its cultural and historical importance

The Old Town of Lijiang is not only a beautiful destination but also a living museum of Naxi culture and history. Its unique blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and historical significance makes it a must-visit location for travelers exploring Yunnan Province. Whether you're interested in architecture, history, or simply enjoying the scenic views, Lijiang offers a rich experience for all visitors.

Spring-fed pool in Lijiang with a five-arch white bridge and a clear-day view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain reflected in the water. The Black Dragon Pool — Heilongtan — is a spring-fed pool at the northern edge of Lijiang, set within the Heilongtan Park. The pool is fed by underground springs from the surrounding mountains; the water is unusually clear and remains at a near-constant low temperature year-round. On clear mornings — most likely in the dry months of October through April — the snowy summit of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (5,596 metres, approximately 15 kilometres to the north) reflects in the still surface of the pool. This reflected-mountain image is one of the most reproduced photographs of Yunnan, and the viewpoint from the southern bank of the pool looking north toward the mountain is where every visitor attempts to replicate it.
